Property portal Rightmove is still the nation’s favourite online place for looking for homes to rent or buy, according to the latest web traffic statistics.
The web site was visited by more than 3.59 million unique visitors in January.
In second place is Zoopla with 1.92 million visits, followed by Findaproperty (1.61 million visits) and Primelocation (1.04 million visits). The placings were unchanged from December, although all the sites saw a significant increase in visitors.
Zoopla claims a 25% surge in advertising by estate agents and housebuilders in the past 12 months.
The site was also voted ‘Best Property Portal – Western Europe’ in the first Property Portal Watch Awards. The judges praised the site for an ‘innovative approach to running a successful property portal’.
The competition was 50 other property web sites from across Europe.
Alex Chesterman, of Zoopla, said: “We are delighted to have won this award and be recognised for our innovative approach and proposition.
“We continue to invest in making Zoopla the UK’s leading online destination for both property search and research and, given the high quality of competition in this space, we are constantly striving to offer the best possible service to our members and experience for our users.”
Meanwhile, Rightmove has taken over as the UK’s 8th most popular web site and top property portal, according to traffic monitor Hitwise.
The rating nudges the site just ahead of the BBC’s web portal.
Rightmove rates high in the Property Academy home mover trends survey, that discovered the site was “used repeatedly” by 69% of home buyers.
